Graduate Nurse Residency Program - January 2025

Position Application Process: Applications will be reviewed upon submission and interviews will be scheduled beginning in October 2024. 

Program Start Date: The program start date is scheduled to begin January 2025. 

Program Overview: Middlesex Hospital Nurse Residency Program is part of a National program formed jointly by the Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). It is designed to effectively support new graduate nurses as you transition into your professional roles as caregivers in the acute care hospital setting. The Graduate Nurse Residency Program is also accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Accredited Practice Transition Program, with Distinction for Med/Surg Nursing. This ANCC accreditation validates hospital residency programs that transition registered nurses into new practice settings. To be certified, programs must meet rigorous, evidence-based standards for quality and excellence. 

Graduates of this 1 year residency program can expect to: Experience 1:1 preceptorship for the first 12 weeks; Attend monthly seminars; Develop organizational, interpersonal and critical thinking skills; Actively participate in unit activities and nursing councils; Complete an evidence- based practice project; plus much more. 

Areas that will be taking RN Residents are General Medicine; General Surgery; Telemetry; Orthopedics; Inpatient Psych; Med/Surg: Comfort Care; Oncology: and Float Pool (Specialty departments to be determined) 

Eligibility: 

1. Bachelors degree in Nursing received from an accredited nursing program. 

2. Eligible to obtain Connecticut Licensure within the first three months of graduation.
