Description

Position Purpose:

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, this Pre/Post Surgery Registered Nurse RN will work within our Exercise Laboratory unit, delivering patient care for cardiovascular surgeries.

What You Will Do

  • Dynamic Work Environment: Fast-paced unit catering to patients from the Cardiovascular Operating Room needing anesthesia recovery.
  • Post-Op Responsibilities: Oversee phases 1 and 2 recovery from anesthesia, provide reports to receiving inpatient units, update patients’ families, and offer discharge education.
  • Moderate Sedation: Administer and monitor moderate sedation during procedures.
  • TEEs (Transesophageal Echocardiograms): Assist with TEEs, including patient preparation, monitoring during the procedure, and post-procedure care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program is mandatory. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • RN Licensure: Valid and current Connecticut RN licensure.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Cardiovascular Step-Down, Intensive Care, Pre/Post Surgery, or PACU nursing. Strong consideration is given to CV Surgical, CV Medical/Telemetry, or Cardiac Intensive Care experience.
  • Certifications: Current BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. ACLS and PALS certification is required within six months of hire.

Position Highlights And Benefits

Part-Time – 24 hours/week - Day Shift.

  • Shift Hours: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
  • On-Call Requirement: Every 4th weekend, 6:00 am to 10:00 am, both Saturday and Sunday.
